No hot water, but the heating still works

Heating working but taps running cold? Record which outlets are affected and your system type before arranging suitable hot-water fault diagnosis.

Call for urgent help. WhatsApp replies may not be immediate. We’ll confirm attendance and charges.

Working radiators do not prove that every part of the hot-water system is working. The next useful question is whether all hot outlets are affected or only one.

One outlet or the whole property?

If a basin tap delivers hot water but the shower stays cold, say so when booking. A shower or mixing-control problem may need a different investigation from loss of hot water throughout the home.

Do not run hot taps unattended or keep testing a fixture that is leaking. Avoid sudden temperature exposure, especially where someone may be vulnerable to scalding.

Identify the arrangement if you know it

A combi boiler, a boiler-fed cylinder and an electrically heated cylinder have different controls and components. Mention an accessible make/model, visible error code and whether the problem appeared suddenly.

Use only the equipment’s normal user controls and instructions. Do not remove boiler covers, bypass controls, repeatedly reset an appliance or attempt a generic part replacement.

Information worth keeping

Note whether heating continues normally, whether any hot water returns briefly, and whether there is visible leakage. Record recent repairs or settings changes without trying to recreate the fault.

For stored water heated electrically, read immersion heater faults. For cylinder leaks or discharge, use unvented cylinder faults.

Arrange the appropriate visit

Call 07469 896305 to discuss an urgent hot-water assessment in Kent. Tell us if losing hot water has a particular impact on the household. Confirm attendance, charges and the relevant engineer’s qualifications.

If gas work is involved, it must be undertaken by an appropriately Gas Safe registered engineer. A phone description does not establish which part has failed or guarantee a same-visit repair. The hot-water service page explains our scope.
