No water coming out of the taps

No water at home? Separate a single-outlet fault from a wider supply interruption before arranging emergency plumbing help in Kent.

Call for urgent help. WhatsApp replies may not be immediate. We’ll confirm attendance and charges.

First distinguish a whole-property supply loss from a fault affecting only hot water or one fitting. That can help you contact the right service without paying for an unnecessary visit.

Check the extent

If safe, check whether the cold kitchen tap and another cold outlet are affected. If cold water works but all hot outlets fail, go to hot-water emergencies.

If only one tap has failed, describe that rather than reporting a total outage. A local valve or fitting may be involved. Do not dismantle the tap.

Look for a supply interruption

Check your water supplier’s current incident information and, where practical, ask a neighbour whether their supply is affected. Use the supplier named on your bill rather than assuming every Kent address has the same provider.

Water UK’s supply-interruption guidance explains initial checks. If there is a known network outage, the water company—not a private plumber—controls restoration.

Recent work, closed valves or cold weather

Mention any recent plumbing work, a valve that has been turned, or exposed pipework during freezing conditions. Do not force an unfamiliar stop tap or use flames to warm a pipe.

In a flat, check with the building manager about shared equipment or planned work. A building-wide failure can require access outside your own property.

When to call a plumber

If the supplier reports no relevant issue and the fault appears within the property, call with your postcode and the checks already made. Tell us about any visible leak: loss of supply alongside escaping water changes the priority.

Read stopcock repairs for a stuck valve or frozen pipes when cold exposure may be involved. Attendance is subject to the fault and safe access.
