Overflow and discharge pipe problems in Kent

A pipe dripping outside can serve different equipment. Before assuming it is a simple overflow, note where it exits and whether the water is cold, warm or steaming—from a safe distance, without touching it.
Never block the outlet
An overflow or safety discharge gives water a route out when something is wrong. Blocking it can hide the symptom and create another risk. Do not cap the pipe, attach a restrictive hose or adjust a safety valve to stop the water.
Hot discharge, steam or unusual sounds around hot-water storage need prompt advice. Keep away from the outlet and do not operate unfamiliar equipment.
What to describe
Tell us whether the pipe runs from a toilet area, roof space, cylinder cupboard or boiler position, if that is already visible. Note whether discharge is continuous or intermittent. Do not climb into an unsafe loft or use a ladder to trace it.
A toilet cistern problem can differ substantially from a pressurised hot-water-system fault. We need to identify the source before deciding on the repair or appropriate engineer.
A fault assessment, not just a pipe replacement
Replacing the external pipe alone may not address why water is reaching it. The supply control, connected appliance or safety system may need investigation. Ask what assessment and parts are covered by the visit.
For a toilet constantly refilling, see toilet repairs. For discharge associated with a cylinder, see unvented hot-water faults.
Call with your postcode, outlet location and any change in hot-water supply. We will confirm whether suitable attendance can be arranged and explain charges before booking.
