Boiler installations and replacement planning in Kent
Call for urgent help. WhatsApp replies may not be immediate. We’ll confirm attendance and charges.
A boiler installation is a planned heating project, not simply a like-for-like swap. The right scope depends on the property, fuel, hot-water arrangement, controls, flue route, system condition and the documents the owner or landlord needs. Start with a conversation about the installation rather than choosing a model from a generic list.
When replacement needs planning
Repeated breakdowns, poor hot-water performance or an appliance that has reached the end of its useful life can prompt a replacement discussion. A single fault does not prove that a new boiler is the best answer. Ask for the cause, repair option and replacement implications to be explained clearly.
If the current appliance is leaking, losing pressure or showing a fault, the immediate priority may be to make the situation safe. See boiler repairs and boiler pressure advice before treating a replacement as urgent.
What a proper survey needs to establish
Useful information includes the property postcode, current boiler make and model, fuel type, hot-water cylinder or combi arrangement, number of bathrooms, radiator and underfloor-heating zones, and the position of the flue and controls. Photos should be taken only from safe, accessible positions; do not remove casings or panels.
The survey also needs to consider access, condensate and discharge routes, system pipework, electrical supply, existing controls and any work needed to support the new appliance. A replacement may involve more than the boiler itself. Existing radiators, valves, cylinder capacity and distribution faults should be discussed rather than hidden inside a “swap” price.
Gas safety and installation documentation
Gas work must be undertaken by an appropriately Gas Safe registered engineer for the relevant appliance category. Ask to see the engineer’s current ID card and confirm the installation and commissioning documents that will be provided. A boiler installation is not the same as an annual service or a landlord gas safety record.
For LPG, commercial premises, communal plant or a non-standard flue, say so before an appointment. Do not assume domestic natural-gas work covers another fuel or building type. The installation scope and competent person need to be confirmed for the actual system.
Controls, system cleaning and commissioning
Talk through thermostats, zones, hot-water priority and any existing smart controls before work begins. Where an older heating circuit contains sludge or corrosion, the installer may recommend cleaning or other preparation; powerflushing is a separate suitability decision, not an automatic part of every installation.
After installation, ask what safety checks, commissioning records, user instructions and warranty-registration steps are included. Keep the documents with the property records. If any part of the proposed work is deferred, record who is responsible and what must happen before the system is put into normal use.
What to agree before booking
Ask for the proposed appliance and controls, included system alterations, removal of the old unit, access assumptions, making-good boundaries, commissioning documents, payment stages and what happens if the survey changes the scope. A fixed price cannot be responsibly inferred from a boiler photograph alone.
Call 07469 896305 with your postcode, current system details and reason for considering replacement. We will discuss whether the enquiry needs a planned installation assessment or an emergency repair first. For heating faults affecting an existing system, see gas central heating.
